A partial fire ban is now in place in the Township of Huron-Kinloss.
An advisory from the municipality says the open air fire ban applies to the burning of brush, yard waste, trees, wood debris and old structures, as well as burn barrels.
Township staff say the partial fire ban comes because of extreme temperatures, a lack of precipitation and an “unfavourable long-range weather forecast.”
“All open-air burn permits are suspended until further notice,” a release from the township says.
Small recreational fires — such as campfires — are still permitted. Beach fires with an approved permit are also allowed. But the township is asking residents and visitors to exercise extreme caution with any permitted outdoor fire activity.
