Another late rally from the Owen Sound Attack fell short.
Nick Sykora and Braedyn Rogers scored 33 seconds apart late in the third period to bring the Attack within one, but a Nic Sima empty-netter would seal a 7-5 win for Saginaw Spirit in Ontario Hockey League action Saturday afternoon at the Harry Lumley Bayshore Community Centre.
Egor Barabanov and Nikita Klepov each scored twice for Saginaw (2-1-2-1), which ended a four-game slide. Levi Harper and Brody Najim also scored.
Rogers had a pair for the Attack. Harry Nansi and Masen Wray also found the back of the net.
Owen Sound (4-2) lost its second straight and will close out a 3-in-3 weekend against Windsor Spitfires Sunday afternoon at the Bayshore. It’s a 2 p.m start.
