The Owen Sound Attack held on.
Noah Nelson scored an empty-netter with 1:07 remaining the third period to seal a 5-3 win for the Owen Sound Attack over the North Bay Battalion in Ontario Hockey League action Saturday night at the Harry Lumley Bayshore Community Centre.
Cole Zurawski, Nick Sykora, Jake Crawford and John Banks also scored for the Attack (6-2), who jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first period.
Ryder Cali, Ethan Procyzsyn and Cam Warren scored for the Battalion (4-4).
North Bay trailed 3-0 early in the second period, but battled back to make it a one-goal game midway through the third.
Trenten Bennett made 23 saves in the win, while Mike McIvor stopped 37 taking the loss. Owen Sound outshot North Bay 42-26 while going 1 for 2 on the power play; the Battalion were 1 for 4.
Round 2 o f the home-and-home between Attack and Battalion goes Monday afternoon, Thanksgiving, in North Bay. It’s underway at 2 p.m.
