The Owen Sound Attack are 4-0.
Landon Jackman’s first Ontario Hockey League goal stood as the game-winner as the Attack outlasted the Barrie Colts 5-4 in OHL action at the Harry Lumley Bayshore Community Centre Sunday afternoon.
Michael Dec, Pierce Mbuyi, Nicholas Sykora and Jake Crawford also scored for the Attack. Jaiden Newton, Carter Lowe, Ethan Armstrong and Calvin Crombie had goals for Barrie (1-2-0-1), which lost its third straight.
The Attack led 2-1 after the first, before Barrie found a couple goals in the second to take a 3-2 lead. The Attack would answer with goals from Mbuyi and Crawford to regain the lead, 4-3, at 13:15 of the second period. But 29 seconds later an Armstrong point shot beat Koprowski high to knot the game at four. Trenten Bennett replaced Koprowski at that point.
Jackman’s goal came with 4:11 left in the second. He took a pass from fellow rookie Max Delisle, and let a wrist-shot go from the faceoff dot and beat Arvin Jaswal glove side. Jackman’s first OHL goal, Delisle’s first OHL point.
Bennett made 14 saves in the win, while Jaswal stopped 40 taking the loss. Owen Sound outshot Barrie 45-31 while going 1 for 5 on the power play; the Colts were 0 for 4.
Next up for the Attack is a road game on Friday, Oct. 3 against the Kitchener Rangers (3-1-0-0).
