Five Grey County paramedics were recognized with service medals for their longstanding dedication to their professions.
During Thursday’s county council meeting, Grey County’s Director of Paramedic Services Kevin McNabb highlighted the contributions of five paramedics who received provincial Emergency Medical Exemplary Service medals.
Joe Draper, Jessica Robb, Paula Trombley, Leo Verschuren and Naomi Liverance received the medals, which are awarded to paramedics who have served at least 20 years and perform their duties “in an exemplary manner.”
“This distinction is not simply for longevity of service. It reflects exceptional commitment, professionalism and meaningful contributions, both in the workplace and in the community,” McNabb says.
Draper works out of Grey County’s Owen Sound paramedic base and serves as a supervisor. Robb is the paramedic services’ deputy chief of operations, and McNabb says she has developed programs to support paramedics. Trombley has worked over 20 years out of Markdale, while Verschuren is currently retired now after over 40 years of service in Bruce and Grey counties. Liverance also works in both counties in multiple roles.
McNabb says about 2,500 exemplary service medals have been awarded in Ontario, since the distinction was created in 1994.
