The Owen Sounds Sports Hall of Fame is getting ready to celebrate a large list of inductees for 2026.
Sharon McKeachnie, chair of the Hall, says this year saw more nominations than ever before.
As a result, the maximum number of athletes and teams will be inducted per the Sports Hall’s charter: nine athletes, three builders and four teams.
There’s also a Special Merit for Matt Eckert, the Junior B Northstars Assistant Coach and teacher at Walkerton District Community School who was tragically killed along with four students in a car crash in May of 2025.
This year’s inductees will be officially recognized at a ceremony and dinner set to take place on Friday May 8th at the Harry Lumley Bayshore Community Centre.
Due to the high number of inductees this year, tickets to the event for the general public will be released at a later date depending on availability.
