The Saugeen Municipal Airport (SMA) commission has announced a long-term land lease with Allin Aircraft Maintenance to establish a Transport Canada-approved maintenance organization at the airport.
Gerald Allin, owner of Allin Aircraft Maintenance, will construct a hangar on the leased land and operate an aviation maintenance business from the site.
A Transport Canada-certified aircraft maintenance engineer, Allin provides services to a wide range of aircraft from across the region and beyond. He expects the business at the airport to be operational by the fall of 2026.
The Saugeen Municipal Airport is owned by the Town of Hanover, the Municipality of Brockton and the Municipality of West Grey, which are supporting the expansion of aviation-related businesses on airport lands.
The report says the goal of the new aircraft maintenance hangar is to increase hotel bookings, restaurant meals and car rentals, while also supporting the airport’s broader efforts to become investment-ready through infrastructure planning and the attraction of additional aviation and airport-related businesses.
