A “Fight Ford” protest was held Saturday outside Bruce-Grey-Owen Sound MPP Paul Vickers’ office in Owen Sound.
The protest, held at 9 a.m. on May 30, was organized to oppose multiple provincial government decisions.
Roughly 60 locations held their own protests, up from the reported 12 that participated in a February demonstration.
The Owen Sound protest organizer, Tamara Sargent, says the goal of a gathering like this is coalition building and discussing which issues are most important.
Sargent went on to talk about what has irked her most about the Ford government. “My biggest gripe is the passing of Bill 5, which will only lead to our government stealing more Indigenous land.”
Bill 5, also known as the Protect Ontario by Unleashing Our Economy Act, gives the Ford government the power to suspend provincial and municipal laws for chosen projects in areas called “special economic zones.”
