Meaford Council received an updated report on the planned reconstruction of Trowbridge Street West and Cook Street.
The project has faced several challenges since council approved it in 2023, including highly compressible organic soils that require stabilization, a scope larger than usual for Meaford, and sidewalk installation.
According to the report, the project was tendered in spring 2026. Despite contractor interest, no bids were received, primarily due to heavy industry workloads.
The project will be re-tendered in November, which is considered a more favourable time as contractors begin planning for the following construction season. Based on this timeline, construction will proceed in 2027 and 2028.
Road resurfacing is scheduled for August and September to address severe deformities in the road caused by deterioration.
