The Owen Sound Little Theatre has completed the modernization of its elevator at the Roxy Theatre.
After receiving more than $140,000 in capital grants last summer, the elevator upgrade served as an important investment in the historic venue’s future.
“The Roxy Theatre is an important part of Owen Sound’s cultural community, and this investment will help ensure it remains a welcoming and accessible space for everyone,” says Bruce-Grey-Owen Sound MPP Paul Vickers. “Modernizing the elevator will improve accessibility while extending the life of this historic theatre, allowing residents and visitors of all ages and abilities to continue enjoying the arts and performances at The Roxy for years to come.”
The modernized elevator has extended the life of the theatre’s infrastructure while improving reliability for volunteers and community members. It provides essential access throughout the building, helping ensure that people of all abilities can participate fully in programs, performances, and activities.
“Accessibility is a key part of creating a theatre that truly welcomes our entire community to participate in the arts,” says Theatre Manager at The Roxy Tiffany McMillin. “The support of the Ontario Trillium Foundation allowed us to make a significant investment in the Roxy’s infrastructure while ensuring that this important community space can continue serving Grey-Bruce for years to come.”
