Tanner Lam and Avry Anstis scored empty-net goals to seal a 4-1 win for the Kitchener Rangers over the Owen Sound Attack in Ontario Hockey League action Saturday night at the Harry Lumley Bayshore Community Centre.
Lam finished with two goals. Ryder Roberson also scored for Kitchener (1-1).
The Rangers led 1-0 after the first, and 2-1 after two.
Pierce Mbuyi had the lone goal for the Attack (1-1).
It was a weekend split between the Attack and Rangers in the home-and-home to open the season, with both teams winning away from home to start 1-1.
There were plenty of penalties in this one. The Rangers went 1 for 8 on the power play, and the Attack finished 0 for 6.
Ryerson Leenders turned in another strong performance in goal, stopping 28 of the 30 shots that came his way.
Jason Schaubel made 17 saves and picked up the win.
The Rangers outshot the Attack 32-18.
Next up for Owen Sound is a trip to London next Friday.
