Jacob Therrien has been traded.
The Owen Sound Attack announced Thursday the overage forward was moved to the Oshawa Generals for conditional OHL Priority Selection picks: Oshawa’s 5th and 10th-round selections in 2030.
If Therrien plays 30 games during the regular season and playoffs for the General, the Attack will receive Brantford’s fourth-round selection in 2029 from Oshawa instead of the 10th-rounder.
Owen Sound only receives the fifth-round pick from Oshawa if Therrien scores 30 goals with the Generals during the 2026-27 regular season and playoffs.
Therrien, 20, hasn’t appeared in an OHL game since Oct. 3, 2025. He missed the last 63 games of the 2025-26 season and playoffs after suffering a head injury.
The Courtice, Ont. native now belongs to the OHL team closest to his hometown.
“Whenever you make a trade involving a player, there are a lot of factors that go into the decision, but in this situation, Jacob needs to be close to his family and the medical support team that he has been working with over the last year with assistance from our organization,” Attack President and General Manager Tyler Nother says in a statement. “The Oshawa Generals allow Jacob the best possible chance at continuing his career at home with his family in the Ontario Hockey League, and we made this trade strictly based on what was best for him as a young man.”
