The Owen Sound Agricultural Society says it’s, “Disappointed. Disheartened. Frustrated,” after more vandalism at its Victoria Park barn.
They say in a statement, “Once again, the Owen Sound Agricultural Society is incredibly disappointed to discover that our barn at Victoria Park has been vandalized with graffiti.”
They add, “What makes this even more disheartening is that it was only recently that Jeff Lockwood of @lockwoodpainting generously donated his time, labour, and materials to cover up the previous graffiti and restore the appearance of our building.”
The ag society says it’s a nonprofit, volunteer-driven organization. They say they work hard to maintain their facilities and contribute positively to the community.
They note, “Acts of vandalism like this are not only disrespectful to our organization and the volunteers who dedicate their time to it, but also to the generous community members and businesses who step up to help us.”
They say, “We are tired of having to divert our limited time, energy, and resources toward cleaning up someone else’s deliberate damage.”
A large portion of the ag society’s grandstand in the park was burned down in 2024, and it’s been a years-long process to try and rebuild it.
