A 42-year-old Owen Sound man has been charged with attempted murder after an alleged knife attack at a residence on the city’s west side.
Owen Sound Police say they responded to a report of an altercation at a residence in the city’s west end at about 11 a.m. Tuesday morning. Police did not disclose any further information about the specific location of the alleged incident.
“During the altercation, a tenant assaulted his roommate with a knife,” Owen Sound Police say in a release.
The victim sustained “multiple injuries” and was transported to the Owen Sound Police Service building before being taken to the Owen Sound Hospital for treatment.
“The victim sustained multiple lacerations, one of which required surgery. The victim did not sustain life-altering or permanent injuries,” Owen Sound Police say.
Police say a 42-year-old Owen Sound man, Daniel “Matthew” Devine, was arrested without incident and charged with attempted murder.
The accused attended a bail hearing and was remanded into custody.
“The incident is believed to be isolated, and there are no ongoing public safety concerns related to this occurrence,” City Police say.
