Bruce Power supplier partners have stepped up to the plate to support ballpark and housing initiatives in Chippewas of Nawash Unceded First Nation
They’ve donated just under $244,000 to two community initiatives through their Saugeen Ojibway Nation Community Development Fund.
Two separate donations of $121,875 will go toward ballpark upgrades and housing initiatives for Chippewas of Nawash Unceded First Nation.
Bruce Power created the SON Community Development Fund in 2025 to provide an opportunity for its supplier partners to invest in projects that will contribute to the growth and prosperity of both the Saugeen and Nawash communities which receive funding separately and direct it to programs and projects of their choice.
Bruce Power’s Chief Operating Officer and Executive Vice-President says in a statement, “Our supplier partners are stepping up to the plate to support our communities and these donations through the CDF are further examples of the positive impacts we can have when we’re working together.”
Since its inception, the Community Development Fund has donated almost $1.3 million to various Nawash projects and initiatives including the arena, housing, health and wellness, food bank, and ballpark.
Councillor Greg Nadjiwon says, “The continued support of Bruce Power and its supplier partners through the Community Development Fund makes a meaningful contribution to our community,” adding, “This year’s final instalment will support our ball diamond revitalization and housing initiatives, helping to largely advance these priority community projects.”
